A Summerfield man has been charged with failure to pay $32,000 in state taxes at his auto repair shop.
Shane Michael Conklin, 33, was arrested this past week on warrants charging him with failure to remit sales tax and failure to file a tax return.

Conklin operates Conklin Customs LLC in Belleview.
An investigation by the Florida Department of Revenue found that by “Conklin’s own admission,” he did not pay sales tax between January 2022 and June 2025. The business is registered with the state as an automotive repair shop and is engaging in the retail sales of automotive repairs. He told an investigator he “wasn’t sure” how to correctly report the taxes.
He was taken into custody this past week by Marion County sheriff’s deputies and booked at the Marion County Jail. He was released after posting $10,000 bond.
In 2022, he was arrested on a Sumter County warrant charging him with failure to appear on a charge of no motor vehicle registration.
