When thousands of residents packed into decorated golf carts Sunday afternoon to celebrate Donald Trump’s 80th birthday, organizers were thrilled with the sprawling, multi-community turnout.

However, after a Letter to the Editor appeared in Villages-News.com attempting to minimize the parade’s size and claiming it was a failed event, organizers quickly stepped up to provide proof of the massive gathering.

Bryan Kenady, president of the Republican Assembly of Sumter County, told Villages-News.com that four club members were specifically stationed with clickers to keep an official count of the vehicles as they arrived at the square.

According to Kenady, those clickers tallied exactly 3,311 golf carts participating in the procession. Because many of the vehicles were four-seaters and most two-seaters carried at least two occupants, he estimated the total crowd size at Brownwood Paddock Square to be “north of 9,000 residents.”

Kenady also noted that several hundred additional Trump supporters were already waiting at the square for the cart caravans to arrive.

The massive turnout was originally conceptualized as an attempt to break The Villages’ own 2005 Guinness World Record for the largest golf cart parade. While organizers ultimately scuttled the formal certification process due to tight logistical timelines, participants still considered the event a resounding success. The parade remained a vibrant showcase of local political expression in the expansive retirement community.
