Three candidates are vying to fill a vacant commission seat in Lady Lake.
The Ward 2 seat on the commission will be filled during a special election set for March 24. The special election was called after the death of Commissioner John Gourlie.
The three candidates are:
Jason Accurso
Maggie Geraghty
Amanda McLea
Geraghty would appear to have the inside track with the commission as Mayor Ed Freeman has donated $200 to her campaign and Commissioner Mike Sage has donated $50. She serves as the executive director of the Lady Lake Historical Society & Museum.

Accurso, a mechanic who runs an auto shop Lady Lake, has loaned $3,150 to his campaign to get it up and running.

McLea has loaned $300 to her campaign and has collected $550 in contributions from Villagers who lived outside Lady Lake. She also received a $200 contribution from Amanda “Mandy” Wettstein, a consultant well known in Leesburg social circles. Wettstein Way in the Village of Newell in the Leesburg section of The Villages bears her name.

Only a small slice of the electorate will be participating in the balloting. Ward 2 had 3,225 people at the time of Census 2020
The term of office will expire in November 2028.
