Skip spent 25 years as an Air Traffic Controller in Leesburg, Virginia – a career he truly cherished. His commitment to his work was evident in the joy he found in every moment of it. After retiring in 1995, Skip and his wife Mary Beth relocated to The Villages in Florida, where they built a life filled with community and leisure.
Skip is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary Beth Tapler, who resides in The Villages. He also leaves behind two children: Cassie Dougherty and her husband Dwane of Fruitland Park, Florida; and Eric Tapler and his wife Teresa of Easley, South Carolina. Additionally, Skip is survived by his brother Michael Tapler and his wife, BJ, of Lexington, North Carolina.
An avid golfer, Skip embraced the sport with enthusiasm and played almost every day during his first 25 years living in The Villages. When not on the golf course, he could often be found enjoying time at the Tiki Bar at Orange Blossom Hills or immersed in computer games on Pogo – two pastimes that brought him great joy.
Skip’s memory will live on through those who knew and loved him. May his legacy bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
