Several events were scrambled after a pipe problem near the pickleball courts shut down a regional recreation center in The Villages.

The Lake Miona Recreation Center abruptly shut down Friday.

The Lake Miona Recreation Center was forced to close Friday. While there was no official reason given, it was obvious that there was some type of problem with pipes near the pickleball courts.

The entire recreation center was shut down.

That meant that the sold-out Abbey Road Forever benefit for Operation Shoebox set for Friday evening had to be shuffled over to the Laurel Manor Recreation Center.

The Photography Showcase which was to be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Lake Miona Recreation Center has been moved to the Rohan Recreation Center.

Several events offered by The Enrichment Academy at Lake Miona Recreation Center also had to be shuffled to other locations.

The Lake Miona sports pool has been shut down.

The District Office has indicated that the closure of the Lake Miona Recreation Center and the sport pool will continue through Sunday.
