To the Editor:

Saturday at Sumter Landing was the most enjoyable day watching Gary Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band. The weather was excellent and those who attended, enjoyed every minute. But the real reason I am writing this letter is two-fold. Our Chapter, Vietnam Veterans Chapter 1036 is the largest in the United States with over 1,065 veterans who served in the time framed era and in Vietnam.

We have one goal which is to raise funds to help other charities and organizations. In 2025, we raised $55,000 through raffle sales, pancake breakfast and our golf tournament. Our goal this year is to raise $58,000, to give more to those who need assistance. Saturday night was the exception and I don’t know who to thank first. We had members from our Chapter attend this event for ten (10) hours, took little if any breaks to eat or rest. For those members who helped, I tip my hat off to them with a big pat on the back. The spectators who attended this event were extremely generous to support our goals. We explained and showed them who we donate to and they thanked us very generously. We met people from Orlando, Tampa and Clearwater who came to this event and with no questions asked, donated to support us. All I can say to each and everyone is THANK YOU for your support.
