A local healthcare executive has been elected to the Lady Lake Commission.

Amanda McLea easily cruised to victory in a special election Tuesday. She was elected to represented Ward 2. The election was called after the death of Commissioner John Gourlie.

Turnout was anemic.

Only 152 ballots were cast among the 1,751 registered voters in Ward 2.

McLea collected 77 votes. Maggie Geraghty picked up 44 votes and Jason Accurso collected 31 votes.

McLea has deep roots in Lady Lake, dating back to her great-grandparents. During her campaign she promised that she is committed to preserving the town’s character while planning responsibly for its future.

She serves as a facilities director for an outpatient imaging center, where she manages operations, infrastructure, budgeting, and compliance in a high-demand healthcare environment. Her experience includes overseeing multimillion-dollar assets, vendor negotiations, emergency preparedness, and long-term capital planning.

She is president of the Leesburg Sunrise Rotary, part of Rotary International, and serves as executive chairperson of the Leesburg Center for the Arts.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in business with a focus on project management from the University of Phoenix and is pursuing a master of public administration degrees at the University of Central Florida.
