A grandmother was knocked from a golf cart Wednesday afternoon when the driver of a Cadillac SUV ran a red light in The Villages.

The woman’s granddaughter was driving the golf cart at about 2 p.m. traveling between La Plaza Grande and Rolling Acres Plaza on Avenida Central when a female Villager driving the Cadillac SUV ran a red light and collided with the golf cart, according to preliminary accident information from the Lady Lake Police Department.

The grandmother was knocked from the golf cart and onto the asphalt. Passersby, including a nurse, stopped to render aid until The Villages Public Safety Department arrived on the scene.

The grandmother suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

The windshield was knocked out of the golf cart upon impact.

The Villager driving the Cadillac SUV was not injured and the granddaughter driving the golf cart also appeared to have escaped injury.
