The Sumter Career and Adult Education Center, part of Sumter County School District, announced the grand opening of its new Pearson VUE Select Testing Center.

This has been a significant step forward in expanding access to professional certification and career advancement opportunities for residents in Sumter County and across the region. Community members, local employers and education partners were all invited to celebrate with a ribbon-cutting this past week.

This Sumter Pearson VUE Select Testing Center facility opened to expand opportunities for students and adult learners to achieve their professional certification goals while strengthening workforce readiness in Sumter County. With access to more than 5,000 certification exams, the center will provide a convenient, local solution for individuals seeking to enhance their skills, earn industry-recognized credentials and pursue new career pathways.

The facility will offer a wide range of certification exams across multiple industries, including information technology, business and skilled trades. In addition, the center will serve as an official site for Florida Department of Education teacher certification exams, further supporting the development of highly qualified educators in the state.

“This new testing center reflects our ongoing commitment to creating meaningful pathways to success for every learner we serve,” said Casey Ferguson, coordinator of Career and Adult Education for Sumter County Schools. “By removing barriers to certification and providing access to thousands of exams right here in our community, we are empowering individuals to take the next step in their careers and contribute to a stronger local workforce.”

The Sumter County School District expressed its gratitude to the partnering agencies that assisted in many aspects of upgrading the testing center. A special thanks went to the staff at CareerSource Central Florida, the Sumter Economic Development Office and Lake Sumter State College for supporting the upgrade and implementation process at the state, regional and local levels.

The addition of the Pearson VUE Select Testing Center aligns with the Sumter County School District’s commitment to promote lifelong learning, economic mobility and community development. By offering locally accessible and testing opportunities, the center supports both traditional students and working adults in achieving their personal and professional goals.
