A resident of the Juliette Apartments in Wildwood was arrested for driving with an invalid license while on probation as a habitual traffic offender.
An officer stopped 53-year-old Brian Scott Avila just west of the intersection of Powell Road and County Road 44A around 11 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. His black Cadillac pickup truck did not have an illuminated rear registration tag at the time.
While speaking to the officer, Avila admitted he does not have a valid driver’s license . A check of his criminal history revealed 10 suspensions, cancellations and revocations dating back to July 2014. The violations included a DUI conviction, unpaid court financial obligations, habitual traffic offender and non-judgment suspensions. He is currently on probation through 2028.
Avila was arrested on charges of driving while license suspended, cancelled or revoked (third or subsequent violation) and violation of probation. The New Jersey native was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center without bond.
