A Villager has completed anger management after striking a lady golfer during a dispute at a starter shack here in Florida’s Friendliest Hometown.

Mark Rhodes, 63, who lives in the Village of Calumet Grove, on March 31 provided a certificate showing he has completed four hours of anger management. The document is on file in Sumter County Court. Thanks to the anger management training, Rhodes will not face prosecution on a felony charge of aggravated battery of a person over the age of 65.

He was arrested March 15 after the incident involving a 79-year-old woman who had been in a golf cart near the starter shack at the El Diablo Executive Golf Course, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The lady was hoping to tee off and asked Rhodes to move his golf cart. Her request prompted an argument.

Rhodes began to move his golf cart and the woman started to drive her golf cart in the opposite direction. He reached out and struck her in the face with his fist. This caused her eyeglasses to break.

An employee at the starter shack provided an account of the incident to law enforcement.
