A Leesburg man was arrested for driving with a suspended license after running a stop sign near the Laurel Manor Recreation Center.

A deputy saw a white Nissan utility vehicle leaving the parking lot of the Serenades at the Villages parking lot, located at 2450 Parr Dr., The Villages, around 1:35 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The driver, 33-year-old Darius Jerrell Tucker, made a right turn onto Parr Drive without even trying to slow down.

Due to this, the deputy stopped him at the Laurel Manor Recreation Center. He then mentioned he had an active warrant out of Lake County for driving with a suspended license. A check of his driving history revealed 14 current suspensions between 2021 and 2025. He also had one prior conviction for driving with a suspended license in Lake County on Sept. 24, 2024, the report said.

Tucker was subsequently arrested on charge of driving while license revoked (second or subsequent offense) and issued a written warning for the traffic infraction. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center with bond set at $1,000.
