A driver with numerous suspensions of his license was arrested in The Villages.

Manuel Estrada Hernandez, 50, of Lady Lake, was driving a white SUV at about 11 a.m. Friday northbound on Blackthorne Terrace when he ran a stop sign at the intersection with County Road 466, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy followed Hernandez and stopped him at the entrance to the Village of  Bridgeport at Laurel Valley.

During the traffic stop, Hernandez admitted he did not have a valid license, but produced documents, claiming they showed he was working to get his license re-instated. Those documents included paperwork that showed he owes $950 in re-instatement fees and that his vehicle requires an ignition interlock device.

A computer check revealed that Hernandez has had 10 suspensions and/or revocations of his license.

He was arrested on a felony charge of driving while license suspended. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $2.500.
