A Bushnell man was arrested for sexual assault when law enforcement learned he allegedly had intercourse with a teenage girl.
Deputies responded to an undisclosed Bushnell residence regarding a complaint from the Department of Children and Families around 6:15 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The complaint referenced sexual assault allegations between 38-year-old Larry Alvarez and a 17-year-old juvenile girl.
Upon arrival, the deputies informed Alvarez of the allegations. They also spoke to the juvenile victim, who confirmed she had been in a sexual relationship with Alvarez for over a year. The last time they had sexual intercourse was in June 2025, when she was 16 years old, the report said.
Alvarez was ultimately arrested on charge of sexual assault (victim 16 or 17 years of age). He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center without bond.
