A Wildwood woman with fentanyl in her purse was arrested after running a stop sign.

An officer on patrol saw a Honda CRV run a stop sign at the intersection of Morin Street and West Stevens Avenue around 8:20 p.m. Friday, April 17, according to an arrest report from the Eustis Police Department. After being pulled over, the driver, 35-year-old Markina Jenea Stewart, apologized and did not deny what she had done.

When asked for her license, she stated she did not have one, nor had she ever gotten one. The passenger, who was later determined to be the registered owner of the vehicle, handed over her license instead. Stewart advised that she was driving because the passenger did not feel well enough to do so, the report said.

The deputy asked for consent to search the vehicle, which the passenger allowed. The report noted that there was nothing illegal in the vehicle.

The officer next went to Stewart to search her pink Juicy purse. As he walked back to the vehicle, he saw Stewart look at the passenger in a distraught manner, as if she was worried. The officer subsequently found receipt paper folded in the small outside pocket of the purse, the report said.

He unfolded the paper to see a piece of a pinkish-orange pill, which tested positive for fentanyl.

A check of Stewart’s criminal history determined she had just been arrested at Family Discount Mart in March 2026 for possession of a controlled substance. The charge was dropped on April 1, though, the report said.

Stewart was ultimately arrested on charges of possession of fentanyl, no driver’s license (never had one) and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $4,000 bond.
