The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is warning of significant traffic due to the visit by President Trump to The Villages.

The president will be speaking at 3 p.m. Friday at The Villages High School at Middleton. Doors for the event will open at noon. (This time has been updated from 11 a.m.)

Due to limited roadway capacity in the Middleton area, significant traffic delays are expected in and around the surrounding area.

The sheriff’s office is strongly encouraging residents and visitors to avoid the area if possible to help reduce congestion.

“Road closures and detours will be in place to support the safe and efficient operation of the event,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Those attending the event are asked to use Central Parkway to Landstone Boulevard to access the venue. Parking will be very limited at the school and attendees should plan accordingly.

Attendees will be subjected to TSA-style security screening, and no bags are allowed.

“We have been informed by event coordinators that the QR Code received after RSVPing does not guarantee entrance. Once capacity is reached, the venue will be closed, and individuals will be turned away,” the sheriff’s office said in the statement.
