A Villager has completed an impulse control class after admitting he had slapped his intoxicated daughter during an argument at his home.
Timothy Richard Merrill, 65, of the Village of Oak Hollow, completed the class in a bid to avoid prosecution on a charge of battery.

The daughter told law enforcement her father had slapped her on Feb. 16, leading to his arrest.
She said she has been experiencing “personal issues” and “going through a lot.” She admitted she had been “crying very loudly,” prompting her father to become “agitated,” according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. She said they had been arguing when her father “slapped her across the left side of her face with an open had approximately 3-4 times.”
Prior to the altercation, the woman had been arguing with her husband and Merrill had arrived to retrieve her, taking her to his home.
Merrill told police that after he brought his daughter to his home she “began throwing things around the home and trashing the bathroom.” Merrill, who stands 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds, admitted he had slapped her across the face, but said the Salt Lake City, Utah did so to “try to get her to calm down.”
