A Lady Lake man was arrested for battery after allegedly strangling his sexual partner during an argument.
An officer responded to a residence in Carmendy Square Townhomes regarding a 911 hangup call at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Dispatch advised they heard a man’s voice, later identified as 44-year-old Ricardo Carlington Thompson, saying that a woman would not leave.

Upon arrival, the officer asked Thompson what happened. He stated that he and his sexual partner of four to five months were lying in bed when an argument began. She then started punching him in the stomach. He sustained no visible marks or injuries, the report said.
However, his partner advised that after being sexually intimate, the two began to argue over an issue from earlier in the day. Thompson grew angry and proceeded to strangle her to the point she could not breathe for a moment. She then punched him in self-defense, the report said.
She sustained a small mark or scratch on the left side of her neck that was consistent with a nail gouge. An examination of Thompson’s hands determined that the length of his nails matched the mark on her neck, the report said.
Thompson was arrested on charge of battery by strangulation (domestic). The native of Jamaica was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,500 bond.
