A Villager landed in jail after a fight with her man friend after leaving a restaurant at Lake Sumter Landing.
Cheryl McCormick, 77, of the Village of De La Vista, had been at The Chop House on Wednesday when she began speaking with another man who recently lost his wife, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. This apparently prompted a disagreement.

When they were on their way home, McCormick became “extremely upset” and struck her 76-year-old male companion “in the chest several times.”
McCormick was arrested on a charge of battery and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center where she was initially held without bond.
