Sandra Ruth Hoffman West, 85, of The Villages, Florida, passed away at her home on Friday, April 17, 2026.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 26, 1940, Sandra was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Charles Alan West; her parents, Raymond Joseph Hoffman and Helene Therese Zajaczkowski Hoffman; and her sister, Patricia Elaine Hoffman Yonkers (Frederick, deceased)
A 1958 graduate of Parma Senior High School and a member of the National Honor Society, Sandra studied laboratory sciences at Carnegie Institute in Cleveland, where she was recognized for high scholastic achievement. She and her husband, Charles (Chuck/Buzz), raised their family in Elyria and later LaGrange, Ohio. During her time in Ohio, she was an active member of the Vermillion Sail and Power Squadron, and St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. Sandra began her career as a laboratory technician at Elyria Memorial Hospital in 1967 and retired in 2004.
Upon retirement, Sandra and Charles moved to The Villages, Florida, where they were members of St. George Episcopal Church. Sandra was involved in the Ohio Club and the Orchid Club, and she enjoyed watercolor painting, drawing, and traveling. She and her husband shared a passion for travel, enjoying over twenty cruises together to destinations including Europe, Hawaii, and the Caribbean.
She is survived by her daughter, Maureen West Hyatt of Murray, Kentucky; two sons, Jeffery Charles West (Michele) of Penfield, Ohio, and James Brian West (Susan) of Wellington, Ohio; as well as twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; Joshua Charles Hyatt (Ashleigh) and their daughter Maddie of Knoxville, Tennessee, Michael George Hyatt, PhD, of Louisville, Kentucky, Thomas Sullivan West (Allison) and their children Keaton and Karter of Mt.Vernon, Ohio, Kyle Edward West of Wellington, Ohio, Sammy Jane Donohue (Glendon) and their children Emory and Glendon of Hamilton, Ohio, Zachery Steven Reece of Wellington, Ohio, Brandon James West of Wakeman, Ohio, Austin Ryan Reece of Valley City, Ohio, Myranda Marie West (Maggie Brannon) of Buffalo, New York, Destyana Marcèe Booth, Preston Sebastian Bowen, and Myracle Susan Marie Booth of Wellington, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 22, 2026, at St. George Episcopal Church, 1250 Paige Place, Lady Lake, Florida 32159 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. George Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.
