A multi-vehicle crash with a fatality overnight shut down Interstate 75 near Wildwood.

The crash occurred near Mile Marker 326 and involved at least one fatality, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Traffic was backed up early Tuesday morning due to the accident on Interstate 75 in Sumter County.

The northbound lanes had been shut down to accommodate a landing zone for medical transport by helicopter, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office also described the situation as “two vehicle collisions.”

Motorists have been urged to stay out of the area.
