A “nasty divorce” led to a bloody battle that sent a Villager to the local hospital.

Officers responded on Sunday to a home in the Village of Mira Mesa, where they found 69-year-old Janice Hopper Robinson. She had been drinking and was wearing a robe with no clothing on underneath. She had blood on her knees, feet and around her mouth, specifically on her lips, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

When police initially came to the door, Robinson ordered them to, “Go away!” Officers used flashlights and looked in the windows. They could see Robinson straddling her husband, who was lying on the floor with his face down. The home was in disarray, with broken glass, picture frames and blood surrounding the estranged couple. A broken wine bottle was spotted on the back porch.

The husband was crying and said he was suffering from pain “all over” his body. He was transported by ambulance to UF Health Spanish Plaines Hospital.

The husband had filed for divorce from Robinson in April. He had been renting a home elsewhere in The Villages. The son told police that Robinson and his father are going through a “nasty divorce.”

Robinson was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery. She was booked at the Lake County Jail.
