A suspected shoplifter has been tracked down in a theft case which occurred earlier this year at a Walmart in The Villages.
Laconia Lanette Worlds, 29, of Lake Panasoffkee, was arrested this past week on a warrant charging her with theft.

She had gone on Jan. 31 to the Walmart at Sarasota Plaza and loaded her shopping cart with Clorox liquid bleach, Ariel powdered laundry detergent, Tide powdered laundry detergent, an OxiClean stain removal product, fresh lemons and a 10-pack of Coca-Cola Cherry Mini Soda Pop. She headed for the door and made no attempt to pay for the merchandise, valued at $62.55, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. She got into a dark older-model Lincoln SUV and left the parking lot, but not before a surveillance camera picked up an image of the vehicle’s license plate number. A deputy found that the vehicle was registered to Worlds. A warrant was issued for her arrest.
She was taken into custody on May 9 and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She was released after posting $150 bond.
