Frank J. Sedlasek passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 12, 2026, at the age of 82. Born in Maribor, Slovenia, on December 9, 1943, Frank emigrated to Chicago before putting down roots in Schaumburg, Illinois, where he would spend over 40 years building a marriage and a family. His journey was one marked by courage, determination, and a boundless affection for those he held dear.
Frank was the cherished son of Frank and Mary Sedlasek, who, along with his sister Irene Pecaric, have preceded him in death.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Lois, who stood by his side through it all. Together, they built a family that became the cornerstone of their lives. Frank is also survived by his daughters, Nancy (Walter) Magiera and Debbie (Rich) Myszynski, who carry his legacy in their hearts. His grandchildren, Breanna, Maddie, and Dylan, were the pride and joy of his life. He was also a proud uncle to John, Diane, Rob, Cindy, and Rose.
In1963, Frank enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving with honor through some of the hardest years of the Vietnam War. He rose to the rank of Sergeant, earned the Bronze Star and other commendations for his courageous service and dedication to his fellow Marines.
Frank’s military service reflected his character and dedication to duty. After serving, he channeled that same tenacity into building several successful businesses of his own in tool and die casting, manufacturing, and technology. He was known for his generosity and willingness to help others, values he passed on to his family along with a deep sense of integrity and compassion.
Frank was not only a man of action but also one of warmth and humor. Quick-witted and welcoming, he and Lois made hospitality a hallmark of their lives together, and no guest ever left their home hungry or thirsty.
Frank’s life will be honored and celebrated with a military service on May 26, 2026, at 2:30 PM at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513. Following the service, a small gathering will be held at the Arlington Ridge Veteran’s Memorial in Leesburg, FL. A fitting tribute within the community that welcomed Frank and Lois so warmly over the past six and a half years.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
