A popular local restaurant in Lady Lake was hit with a “stop sale” order after a health inspector found outdated food on the premises.
Billy’s Cafe, located at 13752 N. U.S. Hwy. 441, was visited by an inspector on May 7, according to a report on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

During the visit, the inspector issued a stop sale order after discovering chicken, tuna, and potato salad that had been prepared or opened on April 28. The items had exceeded the strict seven-day limit for ready-to-eat, time/temperature control for safety foods, resulting in two high-priority violations for the establishment.
The inspector also cited the restaurant for two basic violations:
- Multiple reach-in coolers situated in the cook line area were found to have an accumulation of soil residues on their interior shelves.
- A hand sink used by food employees at the front counter lacked a required handwashing sign. The inspector provided a sign to the operator, who posted it, allowing the violation to be corrected on-site.
Despite the violations and the stop sale order, the restaurant ultimately met inspection standards during the visit and was not required to close.
