The pitching of Barry Foster and hitting of Joe Kasper, led the Village Bison hardball team to the Tampa Senior Baseball League spring championship.

The Village Bison 60 and over baseball team this month won the Tampa Senior Baseball League spring championship.

The Village team defeated the top-seeded Latin Americans squad, 14 to 3, this month to win the title for age 60-and-over teams.
Foster allowed 5 hits over 9 innings while striking out 8 batters in the title game. Kasper led the Bison hit parade with 3 hits and –including a double – and knocked in 4 runs.
Gary Rima and Vinny Zarella each had 3 hits and Fred Millar added 2 more hits. Jay Loving and Carlos Padilla added a pair of hits each.
“This group of guys worked so hard this season to make this championship possible,” said Gary Rima, a Village of Mallory resident who is coach and general manager of the Bison.
“It’s great to bring the Tampa Senior League championship back home to the Villages,” Rima added. “And this was a great way to wrap up our first full season as a baseball team.”

Other players include: Steve Lloyd, Lenny Campbell, Randy Reiter, Randy Pawlowski, Dwight Huffman, Gary Lynn,  Carmine D’Agostino, Vin Mavaro, Sean O’Sullivan, Mark Margevicius, Jimmy Kitzler and Dan Lenczner.
