I’m writing to add a voice to the campaign to add an Edna’s on the Green-type experience for the golfers and residents of Tierra Del Sol.

We (my husband and I) are new to The Villages; we settled on our property in February. Our first night in our new house was spent in the bar of Tierra Del Sol Bar & Grill. Our initial thought was that it seemed dated and tired, and it was pretty quiet on a Thursday night at 8 p.m. We are barely 60 and began to wonder if we made the right decision.

My next experience was completely the opposite — I wandered in on a show night, and it was packed! I started talking to the couple next to me and thoroughly enjoyed my evening. I was surprised and excited to hear about the theater since we moved here from Northern Virginia, where I’ve often attended the Kennedy Center. I was quickly deflated when I learned the theater at Tierra Del Sol was closing, and shortly thereafter, so did the bar and restaurant.

The proximity of the bar and restaurant had been extremely appealing to us when we made our decision to purchase — not the golf course itself, since we are not (yet) golfers. Imagine my disappointment in learning of the demise of both of these places simultaneously!

We love Ednas’ on the Green (our dad lives in DeLuna), and we’ve been there many times in the last four years. To have something like that would be wonderful and would go a long way in attracting younger retirees to renovate and revitalize (as we are doing with our property) the north as it cycles.
