The altercation occurred at about 4:15 p.m. at a residence in the Pebble Springs retirement community located off County Road 466 near The Villages. According to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, Bogan showed up at the elderly woman’s home uninvited just two days after the passing of the woman’s husband.

While Bogan was visiting, the topic of finances was brought up. The woman told Bogan she had located a book containing all of her and her deceased husband’s bank account information. When Bogan asked to look at the book, the woman refused.

Bogan became enraged and snatched the book from where it was resting between the woman’s leg and a chair. The woman grabbed Bogan’s wrist in an attempt to get the book back, sparking a physical altercation.

According to the report, Bogan hit the woman on the side of the head and forcefully grabbed her wrist. The arresting deputy noted the victim suffered severe bruising and a 1.5-inch open, actively bleeding wound on her forearm where the skin had been ripped.

Bogan fled the residence with the financial book but returned a short time later, at which point she was taken into custody.

The arrest report was redacted and did not reveal the relationship between Bogan and the elderly woman.

She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and has since been released after posting $3,000 bond.
