A 42-year-old native of Guatemala was arrested after a traffic stop in Lake Panasoffkee revealed he had never been issued a driver’s license.
Pablo Orozco Perez was behind the wheel of a blue Toyota pickup truck at approximately 7:45 p.m. Saturday when he was pulled over by a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy near the intersection of County Road 470 and County Road 489. The deputy had initiated the stop after noticing the vehicle’s registration had expired in December 2025.

When the deputy asked for a driver’s license, Orozco Perez admitted he did not have one. He told the deputy he is a native of Guatemala and has lived in Florida for about six years, noting that he has never been issued a driver’s license in any country, state, or territory.
Dispatch confirmed that Orozco Perez had no record of a valid driver’s license in the United States.
Orozco Perez was taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. He was issued a citation for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license and received a written warning for the expired registration. He was released after posting $500 bond.
