A Miami woman claimed over $52,000 from a lottery ticket she purchased at a popular travel stop near The Villages.

Tamara Michel Perez of Miami claimed the top prize from a Florida Lottery Fantasy 5 evening drawing held on Tuesday, Jan. 20. Perez’s winning ticket was worth exactly $52,437.58.

The winning ticket was originally purchased at the Pilot Travel Center located at 744 E State Road 44 in Wildwood, just outside of The Villages.

According to Florida Lottery records, Perez used a randomly generated “Quick Pick” ticket to select the winning numbers, which were 3, 6, 20, 22, and 24. Her ticket was one of two nationwide that matched all five numbers for the jackpot pool, with the other top-prize winning ticket sold at a Publix supermarket in Tampa.

Perez joins a long list of individuals who have claimed significant prize payouts from the Fantasy 5 lottery game after purchasing tickets from local businesses.

A few weeks before Perez’s jackpot, a Summerfield man rang in the new year with over $67,000 in prize money from a lottery ticket that he purchased at a gas station located just north of The Villages.

In December, a Sumter County man walked away with more than $26,000 in prize money after buying a winning ticket at a local convenience store.

In November, a resident of The Villages claimed a $119,911.72 prize from a lottery ticket that she purchased from a local gas station.

Fantasy 5 is a daily draw game from the Florida Lottery where players select five numbers from a pool of 1 to 36. Drawings are held twice daily at 1:05 p.m. and 11:15 p.m., and winners have up to 180 days from the original drawing date to claim their earnings.
