A man wanted on a warrant for unpaid child support was arrested on July 4 after allegedly trying to steal a pint of ice cream.

Police were called at about 11 p.m. Saturday to the Wawa at U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and County Road 466 after 42-year-old James Derrick Bolen allegedly tried to steal a pint of Wawa vanilla ice cream, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Bolen put the ice cream, priced at $5.69, in his right front pocket and attempted to leave the store.

When officers arrived, they discovered Bolen was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failure to pay child support.

He was taken into custody and booked at the Lake County Jail on a charge of theft. He was released after posting a $500 bond on the theft charge and a $1,184 cash purge on the child support warrant.

He has been ordered not to return to Wawa.
