John Richard Walden, 67, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, at Lane Purcell Hospice House in Sumterville, Florida.

John was born on April 15, 1959, in Peoria, Illinois, to John and Bertie Walden. He was raised in East Peoria, where he built the foundation of a life centered on hard work, family, and loyalty.

Known to many as “Corkey,” John dedicated more than 40 years of his life to his career as a floor installer. He took great pride in his work and earned the respect of those who knew him through his strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to help others.

Above all, John was devoted to his family. He shared 45 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Missy (Hoffman) Walden, whom he often lovingly referred to as “the best thing that ever happened to me.” Together they built a life filled with love, commitment, and countless cherished memories. He was a proud father to his two sons, Tanner Walden and Cooper Walden, and his family was the center of his life.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bertie Walden, and his sister, Bev.

He is survived by his loving wife, Missy Walden; his sons, John “Tanner” Walden (Kaitlyn) and Jacob “Cooper” Walden; his sister, Pam Walden; his brother, Pete Walden (Pam); his beloved dog, Daisy; along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Cornerstone Hospice for the exceptional care and comfort they provided during John’s final days. A special thank you is extended to Nurse Kristine, whose kindness, compassion, and dedication brought comfort not only to John but also to his family during an incredibly difficult time.
