A Wildwood woman who took a nasty fall from a golf cart was mum on details when questioned by law enforcement.

Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the intersection of Wesleyan Way and County Road 161 at about 6 p.m. Wednesday, regarding a physical disturbance. They found 23-year-old Dakota Brooke Williams intoxicated and suffering from a swollen right eye and multiple lacerations.

Williams told deputies she had been pushed out of a golf cart, but she could not provide any further details. Two witnesses initially corroborated her claim, stating they saw a male subject push her from the vehicle.

However, the male victim provided deputies with a very different account. He stated Williams came to his residence demanding a golf cart ride. During the trip, she began arguing with him about a missing cell phone and repeatedly struck him in the head. The victim stopped the golf cart and demanded she get out.

Instead of exiting, Williams climbed into the driver’s seat, prompting the victim to move to the passenger side. Williams then accelerated and turned the golf cart too sharply, ejecting both of them from the vehicle and onto the roadway, according to the arrest report.

A third witness confirmed the victim’s account and provided deputies with video evidence showing Williams striking the victim multiple times.

Due to her injuries, Williams was transported to the UF Health emergency room at Brownwood. After being read her Miranda warnings at the hospital, she remained mum on the details and was unable to provide any additional information about the incident.

Williams was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of battery. Dakota remains without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center as this arrest represents a violation of bond on a previous arrest.

Last year, Williams was arrested after allegedly purchasing an iPhone on Facebook Marketplace using counterfeit bills.
