A Texas man was arrested on a domestic battery charge after a disagreement over a recent traffic stop escalated into a physical altercation in Lake Panasoffkee.

Deputies from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office responded to an unknown disturbance at about 12:01 p.m. Sunday at a local residence. Upon arrival, they spoke with a man who said he and 38-year-old Rory Roy Ulloa had gotten into a verbal dispute regarding a traffic stop conducted by Lake County authorities a few days prior.

The victim told deputies that as the argument heated up, Ulloa approached him and the two began to “wrestle.” During the struggle, Ulloa allegedly scratched the right side of the victim’s face and grabbed him by the throat, though the victim noted he never lost consciousness. The fight was eventually broken up, and Ulloa left the home.

While speaking with the victim, deputies observed two scratches above his cheekbone and red marks on the left side of his throat. The victim also lifted his shirt to reveal two six-inch scratch marks under his right shoulder blade, according to the arrest report.

Deputies soon tracked down Ulloa and read him his Miranda rights. He agreed to speak with law enforcement, and deputies noted he did not have any visible physical injuries.

Based on the physical evidence and the victim’s statements, Ulloa, a native of Houston, Texas, was determined to be the primary aggressor. He was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of battery and booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
