An Ocklawaha man was arrested after allegedly breaking a woman’s window during a road rage incident outside Dollar General.

A driver was headed to pick up her son at Dollar General, 9440 SE Hwy. 464C, Ocklawaha, when a red Mazda pickup truck ran a nearby stop sign on Tuesday evening, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The other driver, 39-year-old Christopher Michael Snyder, moved in front of her to travel westbound on Southeast 95th Street Rd.

He held his middle finger out of his window and repeatedly stepped on his brakes. He then took a left turn onto Southeast Hwy. 464C and turned off into the grass in front of the Dollar General. The driver also pulled off the road because this was where she meant to pick up her son, the report said.

Snyder proceeded to approached the driver’s side of her vehicle. He screamed racial slurs at her and used his fist to hit her window. He also tried to open her door, but it was locked, the report said.

The driver called law enforcement as Snyder went over to the passenger side of her vehicle, where the windows were rolled down, and spit inside. Once her son began coming toward the vehicle, Snyder walked back to his own, the report said.

A video taken by someone in the area showed Snyder walking toward the vehicle while waving his arms in frustration and yelling curses. This was filmed right after he struck the vehicle, the report said.

The vehicle sustained a broken and unusable driver’s side window. It would not roll down, indicating it needed to be replaced along with the parts inside the door. The estimated cost of repair totalled $1,200, the report said.

The driver ultimately provided a picture of Snyder’s truck that included the license plate number. This determined it was registered to Snyder’s 70-year-old father, and it found Snyder’s address on Southeast 106th St. in Ocklawaha. When law enforcement responded, they found the truck parked in the driveway, the report said.

Snyder advised that he was driving westbound on Southeast 95th Street Road when a silver sedan started tailgating him and driving recklessly. He turned off into the grass in front of Dollar General to let the driver pass. She then pulled off in front of him, at which time he became enraged and wanted to confront her, the report said.

He lost his temper with the vehicle and punched the driver’s side window. At that point, a male got out of the passenger side and confronted him. This male swung at Snyder when he was leaving. However, the driver stated there was no one else in the vehicle at the time, the report said.

Snyder was arrested on charge of criminal mischief and booked at the Marion County Jail. Bond was set at $2,500.
