To the Editor:
I find it almost hysterical that you can walk, you can bike, you can scooter across this intersection, and how fast do those modes of transportation go? 2 to 5 mph at the most? And a golf cart that can go up to 30 mph can’t? It’s laughable. It’s a controlled intersection. It shouldn’t have anything to do with the speed of the road. Also, just because “that’s how it’s always been” doesn’t constitute a good enough reason not to revisit the request or law.
About the amenities: What amenities are outsiders allowed to use? Only ones that are offered to the public. Pools, golf courses and pickleball courts are not available to outsiders. Public areas are open to everyone for a reason: to bring a boost to the economy of The Villages. Take away the public, and you lose good stores, restaurants, hospitals and, gosh, you’ll lose good workers! It’s a balancing act that I feel The Villages does a great job of. For those retired, go enjoy life and don’t worry about others. Stay in your lane. Life is too short.
