Emmanuel Giancarlo Schembari, 88, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on July 20, 2026. He left behind a legacy of love, service, and hard work.
Manny was born on April 4, 1938, in Genoa, Italy, to Giuseppe (Joseph) Schembari and Georgina (Guglielmi) Schembari. He was the oldest of three boys and is survived by his brother, John Schembari. His youngest brother, Joseph Schembari, predeceased him.
At the age of one, Manny immigrated to the United States with his mother. His father followed a short time later, and the family eventually settled in Quincy, Massachusetts. Manny attended the Quincy Public Schools and later Northeastern University, where he participated in the ROTC program. While working alongside his father in the construction industry, he earned his Massachusetts Master Builder’s License at the age of 18.
In 1959, Manny married the love of his life, Geraldine Marie Chabot. Together they built a beautiful life and raised four children: Deborah Marie Corrado, Christine Schembari Lyons, Stephen Joseph Schembari and Dianna Lynn Milot.
Following the death of his father, Manny founded Schembari Construction Corp. Through his craftsmanship, integrity, and dedication, he became well known throughout the Boston area and surrounding communities for building quality homes and commercial properties.
In 1963, Manny and Geri moved to Norwell, Massachusetts, after the birth of their second child. The following year, he joined the Norwell Fire Department, serving as both a firefighter and EMT. Over a distinguished 30-year career, he rose to the rank of call Captain before retiring.
Outside of work, Manny had a lifelong passion for antique and classic automobiles. He enjoyed collecting, restoring, and proudly exhibiting his treasured vehicles at car shows.
In December 2001, Manny and Geri retired to The Villages, Florida. There, he discovered a love for golf and spent countless happy days on the course with his wife and many dear friends.
Above all else, Manny cherished his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Geraldine “Geri” Schembari; his beloved brother, John Enrico Schembari and wife Janice, his children, Christine Lyons, Stephen Schembari, and Dianna Milot; his sons-in-law, Joseph Lyons and Jay Milot; his daughter-in-law, Barbara Braun Schembari; his grandchildren, Melissa Wilson, Nicole Demers, Kevin Wilson, Taylor Harrington, and Asa Joseph Milot; his beloved great-grandson, Carter Hayes Harrington, and beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Manny will be remembered as a compassionate, devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, respected firefighter and EMT, accomplished builder, and loyal friend. His life was defined by service, generosity, unwavering dedication to his family, and a strong work ethic. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
