U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement took custody of an Alabama man who illegally entered the U.S. after being denied a Visa in 2017.
An officer observed 25-year-old Leyser Stuard Ramos Roque driving a gray Honda Pilot southbound on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 around 2 a.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
As the vehicle approached the intersection with Rolling Acres Road, the officer noticed the headlight on the driver’s side was not working. He then conducted a traffic stop at the intersection with Old Vineyard Road, the report said.
Ramos Roque presented a Guatemalan driver’s license when asked for ID. Dispatch ran his information in all 50 states and found no ID. A further check determined he had a warrant out of Alabama for driving without a license but within state pickup only, the report said.
Another query with ICE revealed he was in the U.S. illegally after being denied an Entry Visa in 2017. H admitted that he came illegally after the rejection, the report said.
Ramos Roque was arrested on charge of no driver’s license (never had one). He was booked at the Lake County Jail, and after posting $1,000, he was placed into ICE custody.
