To the Editor:
With the 2026 primaries and general election fast approaching, I am asking why I should vote for a Democrat for Congress in both houses? Even a nameless troll should be able to articulate why I should vote for a Democrat without using “Trump bad,” “Trump this” and “Trump that.”
Let me help you with some topics:
- Public education: 90% or more of funding comes from state and local taxes. Are you ready to pay more in taxes to increase funding?
- Affordable housing: Where do you put it?
- Healthcare: How do you reduce cost and increase availability?
- Law enforcement: Does defunding and reducing the size of police forces make a community safer? How does not jailing rapists, murderers and child molesters make your community safer?
- Prisons: Does eliminating prisons make a community safer?
- School loans: Should people who borrowed money to get a degree be allowed to walk away from the loan without paying their debt?
- Foreign Policy: Do we stop helping our allies, or just some of them? Which ones?
- Taxes: After taxing the billionaires and still having a shortfall in revenue, who do you tax next?
