A Villager blamed her husband’s hospitalization for her deed compliance problem.
Community Standards received its first complaint about overgrown grass and weeds at the home of Mary Hughart on Costa Mesa Drive in the Village of La Zamora on April 8, according to testimony presented by the staff at the hearing this week at the Brownwood District Office. The property was brought into compliance on May 6.
Another complaint for the same issues was received on June 5. After the staff confirmed the recurring violation, Hughart indicated she was unaware of it because she had been at the hospital with her husband longer than expected. She was out of town but would try to find a new landscaper to maintain the property.
As of an inspection on July 16, the property remained out of compliance. The homeowner has seven days to mow the grass and remove the weeds before the District will be authorized to maintain the property for a $250 fine or the actual cost of maintenance.
