78-year-old Water Oak man has medicine stolen from his shopping cart at Wal-Mart

Prescription medicine that had been picked up by a 78-year-old Water Oak resident was stolen from his shopping cart Wednesday afternoon at the Wal-Mart in Summerfield.

After he picked up and paid for his prescription Xarelto and a few other items, he went to the men’s restroom, according to an incident report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The man took the shopping cart into the restroom with him.

While he was standing at the urinal, he had his back to his shopping cart. When he got to his car, he noticed he only had two bags, rather than three.

The missing bag had contained 90 10mg Xarelto pills, a blood thinner used to prevent blood clots. The medicine was valued at $58.08.
