Central Florida League Fall 2016 Championship highlights

The Central Florida League Fall 2016 season came to an end on Tuesday as the Tournament ended with co-champions due to rain ending the final game with a 3-3 score.

Winning their way into the finals were Softball’s R Game and Palm Ridge Dental.

Palm Ridge Dental defeated the #1 seed IHOP 15-13.

Ed DeMaio led Palm Ridge with three doubles and single; Gary Nicolay was also perfect on the day with 3 hits and a sacrifice fly to drive in 5 runs; pitcher, Jim Moyer, also was perfect with two hits and an intentional walk. Ed Haith and John Goulet had back to back triples in the second as part of a 5 run inning. IHOP started to come back with a five run 6th inning and had bases loaded when the last out came in the seventh. Leading IHOP were Rich Bergman, John Barracato, and Mark Rich, who all had four hits on the day. Jim Lambert stroked a triple to drive in three runs and capped the five run outburst in the sixth.

Softball’s R Game bested number three seed, Arden Jewelers, 17-12.

Softball’s R Game got three hits each by: Duane Broschat, Jim Stencil, and Scott Marshall. Adding two hits apiece were: Don Brozick, Vince Pezzullo, George Kennedy, Al DuBuc, and manager, Jack Marx. Due to the rain the teams used the flip flop rule in the bottom of the sixth as SRG was up 17-5. Arden scored seven runs in the seventh as they sent 13 batters to the plate. Mark Hildebrand, Al Mahar, John Plunkard, and Larry Williams all had three hits for Arden.
