Sidney Rivers Williams

A convicted felon with a loaded AK-47 was taken into custody by Wildwood police after a traffic stop.

Sidney Rivers Williams, 26, of Wildwood was driving a silver Mercury Grand Marquis at 6:39 p.m. Saturday when he failed to stop at a stop sign, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. When the officer approached Williams’ car, the office detected the odor of marijuana.

Dispatch advised the officer that Williams was flagged in the department’s computer system as “a subject to use extreme caution when dealing with,” the report indicated.

A loaded AK-47 was discovered on the driver’s side rear floorboard. A loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine containing 22 rounds of ammunition was found tucked in the driver’s seat cushion.

Marijuana was also found in the vehicle.

Williams was free on bond following his arrest this summer after he allegedly shot out the window of a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old.

Williams was taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $45,000 bond.
