Villages Rehab & Nursing Center celebrated its recent opening by inviting in the public on Friday and offering a glimpse at the good life within the new 120-unit facility.
While walking the hard-wooded floors of the 77,000-square feet of the center, guests sampled spring rolls, assorted wines and chicken and shrimp dishes prepared on the premises by the chefs at Villages Rehab & Nursing Center. The sumptuous buffet was capped off with a shimmering ice sculpture of a leaping dolphin. Outside was a flaming grill at which guests could grab sliders and other outdoor fare.
“The food today is just a sample of what we serve every day,” said Villages Rehab & Nursing Center Administrator Debbie Brazil.
Guests, to say the least, were impressed.
Villages Rehab & Nursing Center is located on County Road 466 near the intersection of Rolling Acres Road and is tucked back on a serene, wooded piece of property.
Two hundred jobs have been created at the facility which officially opened in April, and many of those jobs are yet to be filled. The facility is already half full. The pace at Villages Rehab & Nursing Center is both brisk and elegant.
“What makes the difference here is our person-directed care,” Brazil said.
Rather than a traditional setting dominated by nurses’ stations, Villages Rehab & Nursing Center offers plenty of cozy tuck-away spaces with fireplaces, bookshelves and screened-in porches. Five-star dining and socializing are broken up into neighborly fashion rather one major dining hall.
Special attention has also been given to the beds in the rooms which are 39 inches across rather than the traditional 32 inches.
“Most people come here from sleeping in a king-sized bed,” Brazil said.
The gym and rehabilitation facilities are state of the art and staffed with skilled, smiling staff who take extra steps to make reaching physical goals fun, she added.
Other services offered at Villages Rehab & Nursing Center include:
• Treatment for stroke and other neurological impairments, post-cardiac care and post-surgical care (including hip and knee replacement); respiratory and trach care, as well as wound care.
• Intensive rehabilitation and therapy.
• In-house dental, hearing and optical care.
