At Cody’s American Restaurants people come for the food, but stay for the fun.
The food has been so delicious and there has been so much fun that the owner of the Cody’s at Lake Sumter Landing has decided to open a second Villages location.
Cody’s will open in Brownwood in 2014, said John Demetriadis who has ownership stakes in the Cody’s at Lake Sumter Landing, Ocala, Tallahassee and Gainesville.
Fresh, delicious food has always been the driving force behind Cody’s popularity, said Cody’s Regional Manager Dean Turner.
“The freezers are for the ice cream. Our meat is the freshest you’ll find,” Turner said.
The ribs at Cody’s are seasoned for two days before they are cooked and the chicken gets 24 hours of seasoning.
The burgers have been voted the best time and time again.
Demetriadis has enjoyed a nearly 40-year career in the restaurant business. He had a humble beginning as a dishwasher and busser. But he worked his way up in the industry, developing a keen eye for what works and what doesn’t in the trade.
Demetriadis and his business partner Allen Musikantow opened their first Cody’s in Ocala in 2007 and then brought Cody’s to The Villages in 2009.
Today, the Cody’s at Lake Sumter Landing is considered the “crown jewel” of the Cody’s chain which celebrated its 19th year this past week.
While the food is the main draw, Villages entertainment favorites Dunning Shaw and Mark Seymour have built a strong following for their live performances at Cody’s at Lake Sumter Landing.
Live entertainment has become so popular at Cody’s that entertainers vie for the chance to perform at the Lake Sumter Landing location. Monday night has been designated “audition night” for entertainers hoping to earn a regular slot at Cody’s.
