Edward Vodak obituary

1a8617fa6574fcb3Edward Vodak, 73, The Villages, FL passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 after a two year battle with multiple myeloma. Mr. Vodak was from Annapolis, Maryland. He served nine years in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1966. He retired to The Villages from Myrtle Beach SC in 2010. He retired as a district manager from GTE, and as a caseworker for the Pennsylvania Welfare Department. While living in Myrtle Beach, SC he took up shag dancing and was a member of the South Strand Shag Club, The Tampa Bay Beach Boppers and The Villages Shag Club. Edward also belonged to The Villages Computer Club, the Czech/Slovak Club, the American Legion and the Elks. Ed’s most enjoyable sport since moving to The Villages was softball. He also enjoyed golf and pickleball. He is survived by Joyce, his wife of 46 years; daughter Victoria and husband Robert Hofecker; daughter Jennifer Vodak and three grand children, Abbey, Sarah, and Sebastian. He is also survived by brothers Thomas, Jackie and Philip Vodak and his sister Mary Vodak. He was preceded in death by brothers Paul, Gerard and David and sister Claire. A visitation will be held from 4-6:00 PM with a prayer service at 5:00 PM on Friday, June 21 at the Beyers Funeral Home, 134 N. Hwy 27/441, Lady Lake, FL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Lady Lake, FL at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Winn Dixie-Hope Lodge, 2121 SW 16th street Gainesville Florida 32608.
