Singer Fernando Varela, who has built up a following here in The Villages, made the cut Tuesday night on the NBC TV show “America’s Got Talent.”
Varela was part of a trio billing themselves as Forte. The hook was the three had met online and had never performed together. All four of the celebrity judges gave them enthusiastic support. The trio moves on to the next competition in Las Vegas.
Varela, a tenor, is well known in The Villages.
He was a big hit this past October performing the music of David Foster, Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli in a sold-out show at Savannah Center.
