Villagers Larry Zepernick, Bill Davis and Gary Senator have formed the band 3 For the Road.

When you have a band, you have to have roadies.

The Villages band 3 For The Road has Roadies. The Roadies don’t set up equipment or load trucks, the Roadies are devoted fans who travel location to location to listen to the band perform.

“We always have a great time. The music is so fun. It makes for a great evening,” said loyal Roadie Ceil Berardi of the Village of Hemingway.

The band members are Bill Davis of the Village of St. Charles, Gary Senator of the Village of Pennecamp and Larry Zepernick of the Village of Hemingway.

The three were still fairly new to The Villages when they met at the Beatlemaniacs Club.

All three had played in bands in their previous lives though they had day jobs — Bill in the wholesale grocery business, Larry was a police officer and Gary was an electronics inspector.

When they struck a chord so to speak.

So they formed 3 For The Road.

The group started out performing on acoustical instruments. Over the past few months, they have added a bass and keyboard.

“And a cowbell,” said Larry.

And yes, you frequently hear the line, “More cowbell.”

At a recent performance at City Fire at Brownwood Paddock Square, the Roadies were out in full force.

“They are just great guys. And people love the music,” said Roadie Barb Greene of the Village of Glenbrook.

Gary’s wife Sandi manages the band, booking gigs and keeping everybody on schedule. She even invested in custom  T-shirts to identify the Roadies.

“I have to reorder,” said Sandi.

Though the trio has been together less than a year, the band has about 100 songs in its repertoire.

They play everything from 1950s to the Zac Brown Band.

In their Hawaiian print shirts, they are easy to spot.
