Her father suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease.
She and her husband, Dick, were sporting Alzheimer’s Walk T-shirts at the fundraiser at Cody’s.
“This is such a terrible disease. It’s great to see everyone come out to do what we can to combat it,” she said.
Enid Cristodero of the Village of St. James organized the first-time event.
She is a volunteer with Alzheimer’s Family Organization.
“I drew on the strength of my friends and got them to come out and help tonight,” she said.
Her friends were busily running about selling raffle tickets to support Alzheimer’s Family Organization.
Cody’s owner John Demetriadis said the restaurant is always thrilled to help out community organizations. He has held fundraisers for numerous charities at the restaurant which has been named most popular in The Villages Annual Resident Survey.
“It’s all about helping people,” he said.
Popular Villages entertainer Dunning Shaw performed at the event.
