Randy Mask, Sumter County Tax Collector has received a certified tax roll for collection from the Sumter County Property Appraiser. The tax roll will be open for collection Nov. 1. The 2013 tax roll consists of real estate and tangible personal property taxes which include collections for: County, School, Southwest Florida Water Management District, Wildwood, Bushnell, Center Hill and Webster. Sumter County municipal services benefit unit for fire rescue services, Village Fire District, Sumter County contracted fire district and the special assessments of The Villages of Sumter. Taxes are payable on November 1, 2013. Taxes shall become delinquent on April 1, of the following year in which taxes are assessed. Discounts will be at the rate of 4 PERCENT (4%) in the month of November, 3 PERCENT (3%) in the month of December, 2 PERCENT (2%) in the month of January and 1 PERCENT (1%) in the month of February. Taxes paid in March are without discount. Taxes become delinquent April 1, 2014 and a 3% penalty is added for late payment on real estate property taxes. Payments made after March 31, 2014 must be certified funds. If payment is not received by May 29, 2014, a Tax Certificate will be sold on May 30, 2014.
Payments accepted are credit/debit cards with a 2.50% processing fee or E-Check for $1.50 processing fee.
